Get API access to analyses of East Africa's agriculture market
A dataset call hands you rows and leaves the arithmetic to you. These 23 calls hand back the answer instead, worked out on records the platform already holds and returned with a trust block saying how much weight the figure carries. You pay for the answer, not for the rows underneath it.
The price of an answer
Flat, not graduated: the fortieth answer costs what the first one did. Every account also gets 10 free answers a month, and that allowance is separate from the one covering ordinary data calls, so trying these questions never eats the calls you meant to spend on rows. A few entries below compute nothing and are metered as ordinary calls, marked as such in the price column. The rest of the rate card sits on platform access and pricing.
The 4 groups of questions
Prices

| How does the local price compare to the world market? | /fertilizer/global-benchmark | 4¢ | |
| Is the price rising or falling, and by how much? | /fertilizer/trend | 4¢ | |
| What can this API do, and what are the valid names? | The catalogue of varieties, counties, fields and analyses. Call it first. | /meta | call rate |
| What does DAP cost right now, and where? | Robust median price for a variety, optionally in one county. | /fertilizer/price | 4¢ |
| What does it cost in each individual market inside a county? | Market-level detail where the county figure hides a spread. | /fertilizer/markets | 4¢ |
| Where is the retail-minus-wholesale markup fattest? | /fertilizer/margin | 4¢ | |
| Which counties are dearest and which cheapest? | Counties ranked by price — where to sell, where to buy. | /fertilizer/rank | 4¢ |
| Which month of the year is cheapest to buy? | Monthly index over the full history. | /fertilizer/seasonality | 4¢ |
| Would that seasonal rule actually have made money? | Replays the strategy over past years and reports the hit rate. | /fertilizer/backtest | 4¢ |
Demand
where the season and the buying are
| Question | What comes back | Call | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Give me everything about one county in a single call. | Price, demand, affordability and crop economy, synthesised. | /fertilizer/county-brief | 4¢ |
| How big is the fertilizer market in this country? | /fertilizer/market-size | 4¢ | |
| Is demand rising in this one county, and how strongly? | /fertilizer/demand-signal | 4¢ | |
| What is the farmer in this county actually earning? | Harvest value against crop prices, with a scarcity flag. | /fertilizer/crop-economy | 4¢ |
| Which counties are building demand right now? | /fertilizer/demand-board | 4¢ |
Analysis
measured answers, no forecast
| Question | What comes back | Call | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Has the season started here — early or late, and is the rain that starts one coming? | Eight years of satellite greenness against this unit's own normal. Also covers TZ, UG and RW. Kenya answers add rain_outlook: expected rain for the next 7 and 15 days with a wet/dry band, whether planting-window rain is unlikely/possible/likely, the expected dry spell and heat days — derived from a 64-member ensemble forecast (Google DeepMind WeatherNext 3, experimental; the response carries the required attribution). | /analytics/season | 4¢ |
| How reliable is this county's harvest, and which years failed? | Mean, variability and the actual failure years since 1997. The insurance and credit question. | /analytics/yield-risk | 4¢ |
| What does coffee grade AA earn over the market? | Premium over the whole-auction average, in percent, per sale. | /analytics/coffee-grades | 4¢ |
| When Nairobi moves, how long until my market follows? | Measured on price changes, not levels. Only lags with correlation ≥ 0.2 mean anything. | /analytics/price-lag | 4¢ |
| Where can I buy cheap and sell dear — and does it cover the lorry? | Price gaps between markets, checked against your own transport cost. Pairs flagged likely_grade_mismatch are two different grades under one name, not a trade. | /analytics/spread | 4¢ |
| Which counties are getting expensive fastest? | Year-on-year per county against the official KNBS national rate where one exists. | /analytics/inflation | 4¢ |
| Which KTDA factory beats its neighbours? | Ranked on factory_effect, not the raw premium — 86-89 % of the raw spread is which side of the Rift Valley the factory sits on. | /analytics/tea-league | 4¢ |
News & signals
| Question | What comes back | Call | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| The same news signals as an RSS feed, for a reader or an inbox | Not a question, a channel: auth is the api_key query parameter, because feed readers cannot send headers. | /news/feed.xml | call rate |
| What is happening in the market right now? | AI-extracted signals with the source and quote attached. | /news | 4¢ |
A question that is not on this list
The list above is what has been declared, built and tested. It is not the boundary of what the data can answer. A question nobody has written an endpoint for, a commodity outside the varieties served today, a country the series do not yet reach, or the same arithmetic run against your own records instead of the public layer: all of those are possible and none of them has a price on this page. They are scoped in a conversation and quoted.
Where the answer needs people and field time instead of another query, it stops being an analysis. Putting questions to farmers, checking plots against the satellite record and handing back evidence a certifier will accept is a validation, quoted per interview, per plot or per study.

The 4 watch endpoints are metered as ordinary calls rather than as answers. A watch is a standing instruction, and standing still computes nothing; what it costs is the message it eventually sends, charged per delivered message. They are described with the rest of the access surface on the platform page.
Every call on this page is a GET under /api/partner/v1/market and needs a key carrying the market:read scope. There are 25 entries in total, including the catalogue call and the RSS feed.
